On Friday, February 13, AHVI joined the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women community at the 2026 Anchorage Luncheon, held at the Dena’ina Convention Center. Go Red for Women continues to raise critical awareness of the cardiovascular care gaps affecting women and serves as a call to action for communities across the country. This year’s event brought together women across Anchorage to connect, learn, and champion heart health for themselves and one another.
AHVI was proud to serve as an event sponsor and to have our own Chief Operating Officer, April Park, MBA, SHRM-SCP, chair this year’s luncheon. April’s leadership and dedication to this cause reflect our organization’s deep commitment to advancing women’s cardiovascular health in Alaska.
During the event, attendees had the opportunity to participate in an interactive breakout session hosted by AHVI’s Dr. Linda Ireland. The session, “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” engaged participants in meaningful conversation about women’s unique heart health risks and the importance of early awareness, prevention, and advocacy. Dr. Ireland’s session was a highlight of the afternoon, leaving attendees with valuable knowledge and inspiration to take action. At the luncheon Dr. Ireland joined Providence Medical Group’s CMO Dr. Salamon on stage for a panel discussion covering interesting facts on women’s health spanning life stages from pregnancy to menopause.
Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for women, yet so many cases are preventable. Events like Go Red for Women remind us why this work matters, and why we keep showing up year after year. At AHVI, we are deeply grateful to be part of a community that refuses to accept the status quo when it comes to women’s heart health. To every woman in attendance, thank you for being there, for sharing your stories, and for caring about your own health and the health of the women around you. We look forward to continuing this important work together!
