Dr. Josiah Brown is an accomplished interventional and structural cardiologist with extensive experience in the latest cardiovascular technologies and therapies. He completed his medical degree at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), followed by an internal medicine residency at the University of Washington. He then pursued general cardiology and interventional and structural cardiology fellowships at the prestigious Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute in Los Angeles.
During his training, Dr. Brown honed his expertise in structural heart procedures, including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), mitral valve edge-to-edge repair (TEER), left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO), and other advanced therapies. He has been actively involved in clinical research, focusing on innovative approaches to cardiovascular treatment, including a pioneering project to develop a novel transcutaneous cardiac injury biomarker sensor. Dr. Brown also holds a preliminary patent for a wire threading device designed to improve procedural efficiency in interventional cardiology. He also serves as an associate editor for the medical journal “Cardiology”.
Dr. Brown is excited to bring his expertise to Alaska, where he hopes to help grow the structural heart program and introduce new therapies for previously untreatable patients. He values personalized care and works closely with patients and cardiac surgery teams to meet each individual’s unique needs.
Outside of his professional life, Dr. Brown enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, a pediatric oncologist, and their young daughter. They are eager to explore Alaska’s winter activities and enjoy skiing, hiking, and cycling. Dr. Brown is also a passionate cook, with a particular love for crafting homemade pizza.
