Dr. Tiwana received her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. She completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of Michigan. This was followed by additional fellowship training in General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Complex and High-Risk Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (CHIP) at the University of Washington. CHIP fellowship provided Dr. Tiwana with specialized training in performing percutaneous coronary interventions on chronic total occlusions (CTO) and other higher-risk anatomical and patient profiles.
Dr. Tiwana was drawn to cardiology owing to personal experience as a family member of cardiac patients. She is intensely motivated to provide care for all patients, including the recipients of untreatable diagnoses. Her belief in offering help to others, regardless of their illness severity, motivated her to pursue CHIP fellowship. She personally identifies with AHVI’s commitment to serving Alaskans at the highest standard of care and to constantly push for improvement. Outside of her time at AHVI, Dr. Tiwana enjoys exploring Alaska and spending time with her loved ones.
