New Study Highlights Safe and Effective Cardiac Procedures at Ambulatory Surgery Centers

February 19, 2025

We are proud to share that Dr. Mark Willcox and Dr. Steven Compton, two of our esteemed physicians at AHVI, co-authored a significant new study examining the safety of performing cardiac procedures at ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) instead of traditional hospital settings. The study, which analyzed over 4,000 procedures, including catheter ablations and device implants, found that ASCs offer a safe and effective environment for these heart procedures.

Even during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the research showed that patients who underwent procedures at ASCs had low rates of complications, similar to those at hospital outpatient departments. This is encouraging news for patients, suggesting more options for safe, efficient, and convenient care.
